Someone please tell me why this doesn't want to work...
If I start mka-1.exe in japanese locale, it gives me an error message: Error, the config file is not found
If I start it in my own locale, the game window pops up, then gives me an in-game error message with obscure characters (duh) and freezes..
If I try to run the setup exe, it crashes on japanese locale and gives me an obscure error on my locale with the "movie" in it.
Launcher gives the exact same error on both locales
Running the japanese named exe doesn't do anything at all, nothing works...
@xybercoke I'm already using that program for Chrono Clock, but alas, A-1 doesn't want to start even with that. It returns an error message to me about "Failing to read the settings file" according to translating software when I'm trying to run mka-1.exe and it does absolutely nothing when trying to launch the japanese named exe.
It works on other VNs just fine. Locale Emulator did the trick for Chrono Clock, it makes Majikoi and Majikoi S work fine, Majikoi A-2 and A-3 wok with it as well, I'm not dumb enough to not be able to change my locale, since I've been doing it for quite a while, I did it correctly, trust me. Also one of my friends have the same issue, while using way different hardware and settings.
Sorry if you felt insulted, but there’s no way for me to know if people writing here are “dumb”. :P Changing system locale to Japanese is something that plenty of people are doing incorrectly. Like changing location instead locale, forgetting to restart, changing format instead of locale… Sending/posting this video helped lots of people who screwed one way or another. If you don’t want this to happen when people are trying to help you, then explain better what exactly are you doing or what exactly is happening. If using Locale Emulator or changing system locale to Japanese is not helping, then it’s what I said: “Probably something wrong with your PC.”.
It could also be a corrupted file. Try force Re-Check the torrent and see all files on your end are OK; see if the game folder is not read only and uncheck; move the game folder to another location; start as admin as it’s possible that the game can't access the config file cos of Windows permission issue or something…
Also, if you have problems, better ask in the comments of one of the new torrents, cos it's really hard to follow if there are new comments in the old torrents.
Seems like the exact same thing happens. Sorry if I seemed defensive, but I read up a lot on these errors and learned how to change locale.
1.The game only starts up when I'm NOT on japanese locale, and gives me an in-game error message, same with admin start,
2, On japanese locale or locale emulator, I get a japanese error message, which says it can't find the config file
3. Same with a non read only folder
4.Torrent didn't find any errors in the folder
5. Already tried moving the game to another location, but it should work, since it's on my 3rd drive, which isn't the system drive.
6. Compatibility mode doesn't do anything as well
I can't imagine what issue could be with "my PC", since my friend has the same issue and he is using a very different setup and he's using a legitimitate Windows 10 copy as well. The other games did work interestingly enough so I assumed it's an issue with the torrent or the packing, but I'm sure that not even a Windows reainstall would fix this...
I can say for sure that it’s definitely not an issue with the torrent. This is a 4 years old torrent from the old nyaa and KAT sites and I never seen anyone with a similar error there. I also tested it many times on different PCs and never had any problems. I wasn't even able to reproduce the error.
You’ll be able to run the game only with mka-1.exe.
I also searched about the said error and found people complaining on ErogeDownload, but they got the “config file is not found” error when trying to run Majikoi and Majikoi S. Like in this YT video: FpH87ONaabM The fix was changing system locale to Japanese, so it probably wont help in your case. Could also be something to do with Japanese Supplemental Fonts for Windows 10, but I kinda doubt it.
Another thing you can try is renaming mka-1.exe to main.exe Not sure if it'll help though.
the game crashes when i pick benkei route... :(
game runs fine... i press start, then heroine selection shows up and then i pick benkei... then she does her short dialogue... then a black screen and game stops responding.
i tried out the other routes, they work fine..
locale is also set properly, i really mean it xD. i set mine through control pannel method and not the software one.
It's working for me. Try starting Benkei route in windowed mode. If that's not helping try deleting the save files - C:\Users\ "UserName" \Documents\みなとそふと\真剣で私に恋しなさい!A-1\Save No idea what else could be the issue.
